Hajia Fatahiya (fa-ta-hee-ya) Abdul-Aziz, fondly known as Lady Fatahiya, is a remarkable trailblazer whose impact resonates deeply within her community. A dynamic businesswoman, passionate politician, and former police officer, her inspiring journey is marked by an unwavering commitment to breaking barriers and uplifting those around her. For the women and children of the Savelugu constituency, she shines as a beacon of hope and progress.
Lady Fatahiya’s story began with her dedication to law and order, stepping into the role of a trained police officer determined to make a difference in her country. Her exceptional intellect and fierce dedication propelled her to significant positions at the National Security of Ghana, where she refined her critical thinking and strategic planning skills. Over nearly two decades, she dedicated 18 transformative years as an aide to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, first during his presidential campaign and later while he served as the President of Ghana. This close collaboration provided her with invaluable insights into leadership, governance, and the pressing needs of the Ghanaian populace. Lady Fatahiya further leveraged her expertise as a Presidential Staffer at the Jubilee House in Accra, where she continued to serve her nation with distinction.
Beyond her impressive professional trajectory, Lady Fatahiya pursued academic excellence. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Supply Chain Management from Coventry University in the United Kingdom, a Harvard Executive Education Certificate in Negotiation Strategies, a BSc in Banking and Finance from the University of Professional Studies – Accra, a Private Secretary certificate from the Government Secretarial School in Accra, and a Senior High School Certificate from Ghana Secondary School, Tamale. Her commitment to education is further evidenced by her professional certifications in security and close protection from the Ghana Police Training School and South Africa.
Lady Fatahiya marked a significant milestone in her political journey by becoming the only woman to secure a seat in the Northern Region for her party in the December 2024 elections. As the only woman from the 5 Northern Regions representing her party in the 9th Parliament of Ghana, she has truly broken barriers and demonstrated her unwavering commitment to public service. Facing numerous challenges head-on, she has shown remarkable resilience and earned the respect of her constituents.
Lady Fatahiya marked a significant milestone in her political journey by becoming the only woman to secure a seat in the Northern Region for her party in the December 2024 elections.
